Benefits of Young Singers Lessons

The Best Children’s Voice Lessons in Dallas

Vocal Arts Studio has a beautifully crafted Young Singers program designed to help children of all ages achieve excellence in music. These fun voice classes allow children to experience the joy of discovery while learning valuable music skills and healthy singing techniques.  Classes are available for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, elementary school, and junior high students.  Private voice lessons are available for elementary school and junior high students.  These lessons and classes will provide your child with many benefits that will last a lifetime!

The Joy of Music Excellence:  The primary benefit of studying music is learning about music itself.  The ability to create, play, and enjoy music is a wonderful gift to provide your child.  Music is a reward in and of itself, and can bring joy and satisfaction to life!

Language & Social Skills:  Music study of at least 2 years, like the Young Singers program, has been proven in a study out of Northwestern University to rewire the brain to actually make it better at language and learning.  Dr. Kyle Pruett at Yale School of Medicine states: “Language competence is at the root of social competence. Musical experience strengthens the capacity to be verbally competent.”

Math & Computer Skills:  The Performing Arts Medicine Association has found evidence that “music instruction does reliably improve spatial-temporal skills in children over time.”  These multistep problem solving skills, first honed in a music program like the Vocal Arts Studio Young Singers lessons, are required for success in math, engineering, working with computers, and art.

Achievement on Standardized Tests:  A 2007 study at the University of Kansas, demonstrated that students in elementary schools with superior music education programs had standardized tests scores around 20 percent higher in math scores and 22 percent higher in English compared to schools with low-quality music programs.  The socioeconomic disparities among the schools or school districts had no effect on this result.  Vocal Arts Studio voice lessons are certainly a superior music program, with many students singing in operas & musicals, playing with orchestras, and winning music competitions.

Extra IQ Points:  A study from the University of Toronto in 2004 showed that 6 year olds who took voice or keyboard lessons for one year had an increase in IQ higher than the group control group or the group that took drama lessons.  The group in drama lessons experienced an increase of adaptive social behavior.  Students who study with Christina Dragoo can experience both the IQ benefit and the social benefit. These young singers often work with opera and theatre companies and have the opportunity to study music, drama, and intro to keyboard in voice class.

The Young Singers Classes at the Dallas based Vocal Arts Studio are thoughtfully created to help your child delight in music making, while building a strong foundation of skills that will benefit them for years to come.
