Scenes from Opera and Musical Theatre

The DFW based Opera Shorts: Opera Scenes Workshop Summer Program provides a resume building performance opportunity for serious students of singing.  As in a full opera or musical theatre production, we have opportunities for emerging professionals, as well as solos for young artists, teenagers and children.  We also feature roles for non-singing actors (supernumeraries) and a children’s chorus.

Emerging professionals and young artists will be cast in leading roles from the standard opera or musical theatre repertoire that will bolster their resume while developing their experience.  High school students will have the exciting opportunity to observe and learn from advanced performers, singing age appropriate opera repertoire in tandem.  Wonderful solo and ensemble parts are available for children as young as five who are up to the challenge.  All Opera Shorts students will receive the highest quality coaching in musicianship,  acting and vocal technique, along with an opportunity to perform in front of friends and family.  Additional program opportunities may include professional photography, body work through yoga and/or massage, and audition masterclasses.

Our performances will be on Saturday June 24, Sunday June 25 and Wednesday June 28 at 7pm. There will be a dress rehearsal the evening of Friday June 23.

Dallas Fort Worth Opera Shorts: Opera Workshop tuition $249.  Need based scholarships available.  The rehearsal process will mirror that of the professional world.  All soloists will be expected to know their part at the first rehearsal.
